This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.X-Men "97 season 2 has received a worrying update. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has big plans for the mutants. The characters will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, with multiple stars from Fox"s X-Men returning, and then a new iteration of the team will rise in the MCU"s X-Men reboot movie. Years before those two projects, the animated X-Men "97 showed that Marvel Studios understands the team and can make the X-Men shine like they deserve to. After X-Men "97"s phenomenal first season, all eyes are on if season 2 can live up to it, which could be in question.
On Twitter, original X-Men "97 creator Beau DeMayo claimed that season 2 is currently stalled after a "disastrous" internal screening.
DeMayo was fired by Marvel before season 1 of the X-Men series even premiered. However, he left behind the groundwork for season 2, which the writer now claims is mostly not being used, as the new creative team has gone through "a year of reshoots and rewriting." DeMayo also claimed that the only episode locked is a Weapon X-focused entry, which he had already set up before being fired. Marvel has not commented on DeMayo"s claims.
